Memento Mori

Updated: Jan 12, 2021

I was surprised when this project has been featured in Vigour Magazine edition of November 2020 (https://www.magcloud.com/browse/issue/1885302). Death has always scared or motivated civilizations since their inception. But it does not have to be this way. Judging by the way humans live, Mother Death is a blessing. For some, a luxury. For 98% of the planet, they deserve it.

The best attitude towards everything is humor. I have a dark humor. The lady has a dark humor too. So why not celebrate Halloween in a funny manner, such as fingering Dracula's chest instead of stabbing it?

There is something creepy about most poor Eastern European houses, as in Romania, Russia, Poland, Bulgaria etc. Since this is a Romanian house, I will focus on this aspect. In the countryside and the communist era especially, the rooms have a dark atmosphere, they are most of the time clustered, with a big table in the living room and generally having lots of furniture made of wood that is stronger than my morning one. They also have plenty of doilies ("mileuri" in Romanian). Or old dolls. Or sometimes carpets on the freaking wall... This kind of arrangement can still be seen today in some apartments, reminding us of peasants or the poor times of the Communist era. Not many things changed in the meantime anyway.

This is the first project where even I have asked myself "What the fuck?". Probably because I am used to seeing coffins on the table. Whenever someone dies they are many times lied in the coffin on the table so that people can come and pay their final respects. Stupid creepy people. Not even the funny face of Dracula could eliminate the uncomfortable sensation of being stuck in time. I was almost feeling the stench of old Romanian poor people. This means the people who arranged the room did it greatly.

I still have a lack of words for what happened there. And I don't dispel the magic of a session in words anyway, so it's better to say that the gloomy atmosphere is something that it's too much for an ordinary person to see. I do not think many Romanians would dare look in the deadly green eyes of the lady and masturbate. One of the photos got deleted for no reason on Instagram. This is how you know you did something great. Frustrated girls and jealous little men who press the Report button.

Latins say: "Memento Mori". During COVID-19 pandemic, seeing a seductive Succubus in a coffin is still far from being a fantasy. We are very proud of what we did there. It is good that a magazine was so glad to publish such a niche thing.
